Code & Description1 - Regular STRAHNET2 - ConnectorFrom CANSYS Metadata Master Report:STHN - (STRAHNET) This item indicates if the roadway is part of strategic highway network. The strategic highway network (STRAHNET) is critical to the Department of Defenses (DODS) domestic operations. Nationally, the STRAHNET is a 62,791-mile system of roads deemed necessary for emergency mobilization and peacetime movement of heavy armor, fuel, ammunition, repair parts, food, and other commodities to support U.S. military operations. Even though DOD primarily deploys heavy equipment by rail, highways play a critical role. Together, STRAHNET and the connectors define the total minimum defense public highway network needed to support a defense emergency. ***[LINK DOES NOT WORK]*** Http://www.tea.army.mil/dodprog/hnd/ ***[LINK DOES NOT WORK]***History:Strategic highway network is a subset of national highway system. So, in mainframe, STHN used to be kept as one of the attribute values of NHS asset. When HPMS expanded the reporting codes, STHN was made a separate asset in CANSYS to report the data. This data item is not modified unless approved by FHWA. Note: in the case of network maintenance, leave STHN blank.(STHN) - STRAHNET -- IIT_CHR_ATTRIB26 Type of STRAHNET route:1 - Interstate STRAHNET route (all interstate routes are included) 2 - Non-Interstate STRAHNET route (Kansas does not have these) 3 - STRAHNET connector route (some sections of the following routes serve as STRAHNET connectors: K-18 in Geary and Riley counties, U-73 in Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties and U-24 in Wyandotte county.)
